I created this zine based on research into DIY spaces and their connection to zines and aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from zines as a way to disseminate theory, I typeset the essay "In Defence of De-Persons" by Johanna Hedva (available online here). I incorporated my own hand-drawn illustrations and other graphics to pay homage to zines while exploring non-normative typesetting that responds to the content of the writing. I also included risograph-printed loose-leaf inserts with specific quotes from the essay, intentionally using the easily transferable quality of risograph inks so readers’ fingerprints remain on the pages.

I created this book in response to Gallery5’s call for art on Queer Joy. The book is an interview I conducted with my friend and frequent artistic collaborator Deirra Clyburn, talking about the essential function of art as a source of queer joy. Our discussion was also personal, touching on queer and racial identity and how those threads weave through her art. Alongside our discussion are examples of Deirra’s artwork and pull quotes highlighting poignant lines within the conversation.

After planting a Miyawaki “tiny forest” in Fonticello Park in Richmond, VA, Ann Jurczyk from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation sought to create interpretive signage that explained the forest. Ann provided initial direction, the main forest timeline graphic (originally sketched by a local artist), and text. I designed the poster, adding edited icons originally from the Google Material Symbols Database, and adjusting the timeline sketch to work as a larger graphic. Rounds of feedback followed with Ann and Daniel Klein from the City of Richmond’s Office of Sustainability to create the sign to explain the benefits of this type of forest, and contrast the usual forest succession in the region with the accelerated Miyawaki method.

In collaboration with Deirra Clyburn, “Quest to Figure Out What Love Is” is a series of short writings by both of us — two young people searching for answers about love of all kinds. “Part I” is written by Deirra, while “Part II” is written by me. I typeset and laid out the book, with Deirra's feedback, and printed and perfect-bound the final books.

I designed the layout for two boards displayed at the 2025 Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Awards ceremony. Marvel’s projects Bronx Point and the Mayo Island Natural Area won awards that year, so the board designs display key photos, graphics, and corresponding project descriptions. I set up the initial structure of each board. I selected imagery to best showcase each project, working through rounds of small edits with our landscape architect Partner in Richmond, Tyler Silvestro.

This book documents a personal conversation I had over the phone with my mom about her and my dad’s relationship. Translucent film with expressive, hand-drawn layer on top of the text, which varies the text placements and weights to follow along with the rhythm and cadences of each speaker.Credits:

I worked with artist Laura Leigh on a portfolio website for her paintings (link here). She wanted a simple but professional website so visitors could see the details of her paintings clearly. This process included an initial call to understand her goals, sketches, initial wireframe layouts in Figma, and building out the website through Squarespace. I aimed to make the website structure easy to navigate and make the paintings the main focus.

Each of us drew two illustrations each I created the page layout and cover, along with drawing two illustrations. We all took equal roles in initiating and coming up with the beginning concept and topics we wanted to illustrate. I also handled scheduling and timelines.
